Melissa Hayes

I understand the importance of making information universally accessible and meaningful to everyone. I spent more than a decade as a reporter working to empower people with knowledge, whether that meant holding government accountable, writing about an interesting local issue or featuring members of the community.

I oversee communications and external affairs at a federally-funded agency. Our team is responsible for engaging stakeholders and the public. We strive to present projects and programs in a way that encourages people to get involved.

I have extensive multimedia experience. I love to learn new things and tell stories in a variety of formats, whether I'm presenting them in print, online, on social media, or through photographs or videos.

I feel strongly about giving back and spent 11 years serving on the Board of Trustees for Targum Publishing Company, the non-profit that produces the student-run newspaper at Rutgers University. During my tenure at The Daily Targum, I was fortunate to have amazing alumni mentors. I was privileged to be able to serve in that capacity for students aspiring to careers in journalism and marketing.
